About me
I’m Rob Mientjes and I design and write, mostly.
That’s not all, though, of course. And it’s not that simple. First of all, I design user interfaces for web applications, websites, all kinds of print (but with a focus on typographic work, such as books and catalogues) and typefaces. That’s broad still, but my work will show you how I use it. Next to that, I believe that writing is essential to design. Language is a very important part of the design process, and often overlooked. I intend to change that. Writing is also an autonomous pleasure for me. I write stories, mainly (really) short stories, but there’s also a book waiting to be finished. My most visible obsession is my love for fashion and, in extension, product design. I am working on some material that will show up here soon enough.
I maintain a photoblog as well. It’s called rbmntjs and I update it twice a week, Mondays and Fridays. It’s an exercise in keeping my eye on the lens and my finger on the shutter release. It’s also an excellent excuse to make aesthetic imagery all the time, but don’t let that distract you.
