Drammens rekordbok

Ingvild Schade has written a headscratcher of a debut novel, and I was asked to design a cover that would set it safely apart from the serious, the comedic and the quirky. Instead, we went for something altogether different and new. The novel deals, essentially, with a dysfunctional family, but the idea of calling it a Book of Records is what set me off on my journey.

The result is a cover that tries to live in the realm of the memorial friezes of ancient Greece, but becomes its own parody. Much like record keeping is a grotesque activity, so is this cover a grotesque monument.

It was published September 2014 through Oktober.
